Game dev story
Play as an beginner game developer, train your skills and try to make a game!
It's not easy to make a game, so do not stop after a failed try, simply upgrade your skills with experience you earned and try another one!
Do you think you have what it takes to finish all three games? :)
Controls:
- WASD - walking
- Spacebar - jump
- Left mouse button - shoot
- Esc - leave current project (exp you earn stays)
- You can click on backpack slots to release currently held puzzles.
- Do not click the "Reset all" button on upgrades screen - it won't give you your exp back :)
Gameplay description
There are 3 difficulty levels represented as game genres, I would recommend to start at the "Platformer".
To finish a game you need to complete a certain number of features, this number is different for each genre. Features are represented in game by the colored blocks, that spawn at the beginning and then later from time to time. Features will try to get to your game and when they do, they will show up in top right corner - those features can be worked on.
To complete a feature you need to deliver a number of puzzles to a game. You do this by touching the game with puzzles in your backpack. Puzzles are assigned to features in order from top to bottom. The number and type of puzzles that need to be delivered to the game are represented by colored blocks (which given feature consists of).
To catch a puzzle, simply walk or jump into them. Puzzles represent a work that need to be done in game development: green - design, blue -code, red - art, yellow - sound.
You can coot already spawned puzzles to make place for other colors to spawn, I should have mentiond it earlier but it slipped my mind :/
You need to be careful not to let too many features at a time - if you let more than four, you will enter a "feature creep" mode. In this mode, the puzzles you bring will be distributed randomly between features, instead of in order from top to bottom. To keep features from getting to game, you may need to destroy them by shooting them.
Bugs and procrastination monsters will spawn from time to time. Bugs will try to get to your game, and when they do, they will substract work done from random feature. Procrastination monstres will simply try to get in your way by pushing you around, making your life harder. Both bugs and fetures can be shot.

Cool game,GG men
I like this a lot. You did a great job of creating mechanics related to the theme. I will say that I felt like I had a lot thrown at me at once and most of it wasn't explained clearly, some elements not at all, but it's a sweet prototype and I think it could be pretty addicting with some balancing tweaks.
Thank you for your feedback :) Some people already pointed to me that the game is a bit unclear so I added a gameplay description to the game page, I hope it helps :)
Really nice Game Concept! :D
Maybe you could add background music :)
I really wanted to, but I never did compose anything before and I was already a bit tired :) I'm glad you liked it :)
I like the idea of time management based gameplay and I think it's well executed, but I don't think grinding for exp is something particularly suited to the game and it would have been cooler to base upgrades around powerups or something else that you have to work for short-term. Good job though!
The exp is on purpose to better fit the theme, you play as a game developer starting without any skills and you become better by working hard :)
